Ways To Improve The Performance of Your Desktop Computer.

Our computer desktop system requires fast hardware and uncluttered software if we want it to runs smoothly. Perhaps, we need to choose well in most of the time in order to maximize the performance of our desktop computer. Improving the system performance can increase our productivity on our desktop computer. Imagine if we calculate all of our time that we loss in our slow system it may reach days or even weeks if we add up all of this in one year. So, why should we change everything to new rather than upgrade or configure things? Not all the time we can spend our money in computer upgrades or buying the latest system. It is not a good idea to change your desktop computer all the time. There are disadvantages in buying new computer system like migrating your old files to new hard drive, keeping up to the new operating system, incomplete or no application installed. Printer or some old devices like Camera, Bluetooth are not yet installed in your new system. There is no point in buying the latest computer desktop system if you have a tight budget and the system works properly and only needs few configurations.

Here are things you can do to improve the performance of your desktop computer.

1. Increase memory.

You can improve the speed of your computer if you add memory to your desktop computer but you have to check first if what kind of memory your desktop computer is compatible with. Also, check if there is available slot for another memory. There are kinds of memory in the market today. You can buy old memory like DDR1, DDR2, and DDR3 in a computer surplus store. Sometimes, DDR3 is still sold in non-surplus computer store or as brand new with a 6 months warranty or 1 year warranty. And also you can add brand new memory (DDR4) if your desktop computer has the latest memory slot for DDR4.

2. Add a video card.

Video card is essential if you are going to use your desktop computer for gaming. So, by adding video card to your desktop computer you can increase speed of your computer. If there is no external video card your built video card will share memory in the system.

3. Change your hard disk drive (HDD) to (Solid State Drive) SSD.

SSD is faster than HDD but there are disadvantages on SSD. Like the price is still high than HDD and also the capacity is smaller than HDD. But on the other hand they say SSD only takes 16 - 30 seconds boot up time depending on the system speed. HDD takes longer time to boot-up than SSD. So, it is better to use SSD if you need more speed. Also you can use both SSD & HDD on your system. You can use the SSD for your boot drive or for your system drive and use HDD for your data, video or backup files.

4. Remove unnecessary start up files.

You can remove unnecessary files from your start-up. You can use msconfig.exe to edit your start-up files in windows XP, 7 & windows 10.

5. Change windows settings for best performance.

Change your visual effects for best performance.

6. Choose antivirus with less usage on system resources.

You may choose use antivirus with less system resources usage. Like if you can use Windows Defender if you are not too much concerned about your privacy and security. Because other antivirus eats up too much resources is not advisable to use it in an old desktop computer. Windows defender uses less CPU and memory usage but has a good security features. I use windows defender on my old desktop computer. But I do not recommend it for those who always purchase online and has a highly valuable data on their computer.

7. Check cooling system or add additional fan for better cooling.

Adding an additional fan on your desktop computer will also makes the system work properly and smoothly.

Hope this will help to improve your desktop computer performance.
