How Build Your Own Easy DIY Portable Hard Disk Drive.

Good Day! Hello guys, today I am going to share with you how to build your own DIY Portable Hard Disk Drive from an old defective Laptop or Netbook. Some don't know about this technique or hack. For some that don't know how to build this I think it's time to try it.

Materials needed for your Portable Hard Disk Drive:

1. An old defective Laptop or Netbook - Hard Disk should be working properly.
2. Small Screwdriver - for removing screws from your Laptop or Netbook.
3. Portable Hard Disk Drive Enclosure (2.5" HDD Enclosure) - you can buy this from amazon or you can salvage this from an old defective portable hard disk drive.

Procedure:

1. Prepare all the materials you need.
2. Prepare the Laptop or Netbook for Hard Disk Drive removal.

3. Turn over or flip your Laptop or Netbook, slide the notch to remove battery and its back cover see illustration below. Some Laptop or Netbook needs to be unscrewed to open its Hard Disk Drive bay.

4. Remove the Battery and Back Cover to exposed the Hard Disk Drive see illustration below. You need to unscrew the HDD holder to easily remove the Drive from your Laptop or Netbook.

5. When you remove the Hard Disk Drive holder you will see the HDD details printed on its label. You will also find information how large is your Hard Disk Drive and its brand name. For this example we have here a 250GB Western Digital Hard Disk Drive.

6. Disassemble your HDD Enclosure see illustration below. You can acquire this HDD Enclosure from defective Portable Drive. Just remove the defective Hard Disk Drive from your old HDD Enclosure and reuse it. You can also buy this item online from Amazon or from Computer Store near your place.

7. Insert your Hard Disk Drive to HDD holder in your HDD Enclosure. See Illustration below.

8.  Return the front and back cover of your HDD Enclosure. Now it's time to test your newly build DIY Portable Hard Disk Drive.

See Illustration below:

This hack also works on new Hard Disk Drive and Enclosure. All you need to do is purchased these two items new 2.5" Hard Disk Drive and 2.5" HDD Enclosure.
