How to identify what type of windows currently installed in your computer?

Many of us know where to find information about what operating system installed on our computer. If you know about this already this post may not be intended for you. Few still don't know what type of windows is installed on their computer. This post will give you idea on where to look if you want to know what kind or type of windows is installed on your computer.

Method 1.

In your are using windows 7. Click start button, point you cursor to Computer, then right click and click properties. If you see a Computer icon on your desktop you can also, right click and select properties same result you will get.

Window will pop-up like this, see image below.




Method 2.

Go to Control Panel, then on the top right corner click drop down menu, select view by Large icons or Small icons, then look for System, Click and view System properties.

Go to Control Panel, then on the top right corner click drop down menu, select view by Category chose System and Security, then look for System, Click and view System properties.


Method 3.

Using dxdiag, click Start button, type in dxdiag in the search box.



You have to take note of what kind of Windows is currently installed on your computer.
Example: Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 or 8.1 or Windows 10.


Also take note of what type on system you have either 32Bit or 64Bit Windows.
Example: Windows 7 32-Bit, Windows 8 64-Bit or Windows 10 64-Bit. 



This process is the same also in Windows 8, you go to Windows System Properties. Also, same with Windows 10 you go to Windows System Properties. When you are using dxdiag in both Windows 8 and Windows 10 you will get same result. 


Identifying your Windows type installed in your computer is very useful when you are going to install software on your computer. Most of all software will ask you during download what type of operating system currently installed on your system this usually happens when downloading device drivers.
